Picture
This is Harold the sock sloth. He has three-toes.

Harold joined my family in 2012, a few months before I moved to California to attend graduate school. It is often difficult to keep a sloth healthy in sanitized facilities (Diniz et al. 1999), so I keep Harold in my bedroom.

Science regarding Harold's world may pop up once in a while on this blog, including later today when I'll explain more about how he stays nourished in a "dirty" environment.

Diniz LS, Oliveira PM. 1999 Clinical problems of sloths (Bradypus sp. and Choloepus sp.) in captivity. J. Zoo Wildl. Med. 30, 76–80.
